Federal Stafford Loan
Federal Stafford Loans for undergraduate and graduate students are awarded through the Federal Family Education Loan Program, in which the student chooses a lender from which to borrow the loan. The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) must be completed in order to be awarded a Federal Stafford Loan. There are yearly and aggregate loan limits that a student can borrow based on their grade level. For more information on applying for loans or on loan limits, please click here.
Federal Perkins Loan
The Federal Perkins Loan is a low-interest loan to undergraduate and graduate students with need in which Appalachian is the lender. It is suggested that interested students file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by the priority deadline as there are limited Perkins Loan funds available to award. Federal Graduate PLUS Loan
The Federal Graduate PLUS Loan is available to graduate or professional students up to their cost of attendance minus other estimated financial assistance. The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) must be completed in order to receive the Grad PLUS Loan. For more information on the Federal Graduate PLUS Loan, please click here

Federal Plus Loan
Federal PLUS Loans are parental loans for an undergraduate student’s educational expenses and are awarded through the Federal Family Education Loan Program, in which the parent borrower chooses a lender from which to borrow the loan. The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) must be completed in order to be awarded a Federal PLUS Loan. For more information on applying for a PLUS loan, please click here.
