The Drug-Free Schools and Communities Act (DFSCA) and Part 86 of the Department of Education’s General Administrative Regulations require institutions of higher education to certify that they have developed and implemented drug and alcohol abuse education and prevention programs.

Appalachian maintains a Drug and Alcohol Prevention Program (DAAPP) that is available on the university’s website and distributed annually to students and employees. https://police.appstate.edu/clery-act/drug-and-alcohol-prevention-program.

Additionally, students are notified of penalties associated with drug-related offenses in the student code of conduct https://studentconduct.appstate.edu/
